Long Island Web Design
Goodpep was built on the desire to create better more meaningful experiences throughout the web and user experience design is often our top priority with our clients. It is important that your business’s website is intuitive and efficient for your users.
Our Web Design and Development Process
Domain and Hosting
The first step is to work alongside the client to choose a secure and scalable hosting package. Our team will help the client choose and setup the account but it will be bought under their name so they will own it and have access without contacting us.
We may suggest to stay on their current hosting platform and/or make an upgrade.
During our initial meeting, we will work with the client to understand their overall website goals which will help us create a design direction that will best fit their needs.
To ensure we’re headed in the right direction both parties will send links to websites they link and dislike to establish a clear line of inspiration for the new website.
After we establish the desired design direction, we’ll have to create and/or access the current sitemap. This will allow our team to understand the hierarchy of each page and subpages so that we’re able to design an intuitive website.
The next step in the web design process is accessing and transferring the content that the client would like to use on the new website. The best way for a smooth transfer is by sharing or sending word docs that have the ability to copy and paste so our team can ensure accuracy.
After the initial steps have been completed we must determine a call-to-action (CTA) that we want users to engage with on the website. The CTA doesn’t always have to be sales-related, but some ideas that we typically entertain would be a contact page/lead form, newsletter sign-up, etc.
At this stage is when we begin development within the CMS. A CMS (content management system) is a platform that allows website designers the ability to create custom websites that can easily be updated by the client (popular CMS’s include WordPress, Shopify, and Drupal.) Don’t know what content management system your business should be using? No problem, we’ll help guide you in that process.
Our team will then build out each page template that was approved during the design phase. Each page template will be complete with custom fields that allow the client to easily update content and add new pages. Don’t want to update content on your own? Not a problem, reach out to us and ask about our optional monthly retainers.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Prep
All of our websites are using SEO best practices. This includes, but is not limited to, title tags, descriptions tags, URL structure, content creation suggestions, etc.

Google Analytics Integration
The next step is to add or migrate Google Analytics tracking software to the website allowing both the client to access and monitor their traffic source, user behavior and much more. If you’re not familiar with Google Analytics, our team will show you how to read the basic metrics and create goals that will allow you to measure your website traffic with precision.
One of the last steps of the build process is to install and configure security plugins that will monitor traffic sources and alert the client if certain software needs an update or if the website has been infected with malware.
Finally, the website launch! This process is a little different depending on the client’s web host. Typically the launch will take a few hours, which includes a final quality check, data transfer and propagation time. However, some web hosts offer a more seamless website transfer and can take less than 30 minutes for the website to launch (not including a quality check).
One service that our client love are the original video tutorials we create for them. For every website, we create screenshot videos showing the client how to update content. Typically we provide to 2-3 videos but always love creating more if requested.
